This Sunday we will be wrapping up our FREEdom message series with an emphasis on anxiety… then we will be diving into our second Remedy Church baptism at the Assateague Island National Seashore beach. Our first Remedy Church beach baptism was a smashing success! (see above photo featuring those who were baptized in June)
This month we will be joining with just under a dozen other churches from several denominations (including SonRise Church) from around the Eastern Shore. I am really excited about the unity and solidarity that an event like this displays. This is guaranteed to be a phenomenal celebration of the life-change that can be ours in Jesus Christ. Check out this article from the Daily Times describing our baptism in the Atlantic Ocean at Assateague tomorrow at 4 pm.
+ What is this baptism you speak of?
- Baptism is a symbol of your commitment to Jesus Christ as the Messiah in the same way that a wedding ceremony is a public symbol of commitment between husband and wife. Jesus himself was baptized to fulfill “God’s will” (Matthew 3:13-16). And Jesus instructed His followers to be baptized and to baptize others. Baptism is an action of obedience… and love. Baptism is not a condition of your reconciliation with God (aka:: salvation), but it is a vital part of your story. Baptism identifies you with Jesus’ death and resurrection… as your old life is immersed and covered in the waves of your new commitment to Jesus.
+ Why should I be baptized?
- Let’s answer this question with a question:: If Jesus was baptized… why not me?
+ Baptism at the beach?
- Heck yes. We can’t exactly bring a big bucket of water into the movie theater on a Sunday morning, so we will be hosting three baptism gatherings on the last Sunday of each month this summer (June 27th, July 25th, and August 29th).
